What is CODEX? Government and corporate control of our food supply

Never heard of Codex Alimentarius? That’s exactly what they want! I warrant making CODEX a priority to understand, to Act on and spread the word. We all need to get very familiar with Codex if we care about our ability, and that of future generations, to manage our health through the use of high quality food and concentrated nutrients derived from nature.

Codex is a group of legislators representing 48 different countries, titled the 'Codex Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Uses.' The "Codex Alimentarius" (CO-DEX' AL-A-MEN-TARE'-Y-US) itself is a compilation of food standards, codes of practice and guidelines that specify all requirements related to foods, whether processed, semi-processed, genetically engineered, or raw. Genetic modification employs recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid (rDNA) technology to alter the genes of microorganisms , plants, and animals. Genetic modification is also called biotechnology, gene splicing, recombinant DNA technology, or genetic engineering. In short, genetic engineering involves crossing species which could not cross in nature. Crops may be modified to increase resistance to pests and disease, increase adaptability to environmental conditions, improve flavor or nutritional profile, delay ripening, or increase shelf life. For example, genes from a flounder (a cold water fish) have been inserted into strawberries and tomatoes (Flavr Savr by Calgene, Inc.) to make them less susceptible to cold. Aside from the gene splicing, there is the pesticide factor, never mind the new disease called Morgellons from consuming GMO crops and foods. "A study of the fibers shows that they contain DNA from both a fungus and a bacterium which are used in the commercial preparation of genetically modified foods and non-food crops (such as cotton). The fibers themselves are primarily cellulose, which the human body cannot breakdown or manufacture."
Currenlty NO GMO foods are labelled. Very questionable, since 75% to 80% of food products contain genetically engineered substances.

Currently 13.3 million farmers - 90 percent of all who farm in developing countries- are currently planting biotech crops. Many of these crops failed, destroyed land and bankrupted people that thousands of farmers in India committed suicide. Starving Africa currently bans GMO's. In their widom they have chosen not to be a social experiment, nor has Poland, and in the Eu this toxic food is banned, while China is currently the sixth largest producer of genetically modified (GM) crops (3.8 million hectares in 2008, behind the United States, Argentina, Brazil, India, and Canada. People are fighting back against GMOS and destroying those environmenally destructive crops!

Many common genetically modified crops such as: beets for sugar, canola, corn, flax, cotton, wheat, soybeans, potatoes, squash, alfalfa, tomatoes, papayas and animal feed. These include Monsanto's franken forests bringin gus closer to extinction and the more recent experimental GMO eucalyptus trees planted in several southern US states which is strange since these trees siphon water. Interesting, since Florida and Georgia are short on water. Check GMO Database. In addition, California's Proposition 19 to legalize Marijuana/Hemp is a scam. Read PROPOSITION 19, MONSANTO, AND TERMINATOR CANNABIS. Patents are a way to control and corporatize the worlds food supply. This is aside from cloned animals, meat and fish.

Engineered seeds can survive in soil for 10 years
Scientists in Sweden found genetically engineered canola plants springing up in a test field 10 years after engineered seeds were originally planted—despite efforts over time to clear the field oftransgenic plants. The canola plants were engineered to tolerate the herbicide glufosinate. In the years following the canola planting, the field was plowed and used to grow wheat, barley, and sugar beets, and farm staff routinely searched for and removed canola plants. Yet after a decade canola plants were still sprouting in the field. The persistence and dispersal of genetically engineered plants into the environment is one of the serious problems with this technology, and may contribute to contamination of conventional crops. 1. The EPA estimates that US sales of pesticides in 2000-2001 exceeded $11 billion dollars, thus representing over 2 billion pounds of pesticides being dumped on U.S. farm soil, homes, gardens, schools, golf courses and more. This number is about 8 pounds for every man, woman and child in the entire country.

2. There are over 21,000 different pesticides on the U.S. market containing over 875 active compounds. Many of these have been proven to have health implications and the others are unknown.

3. In the study, "Food and the Environment: A Consumer's Perspective," 86 percent of respondents said they believe there is a connection between the health of the environment and their own well-being.

4. Since 1945, total U.S. crop losses from insect damage have nearly doubled. During the same time, insecticide use has increased tenfold. Today, seventy-one known carcinogenic pesticides are sprayed on food crops. (In Harmony's report, "Pesticides: Losing Their Effectiveness")

5. EPA estimates that there are approximately 20,000 physician diagnosed pesticide poisonings each year among agricultural workers. These are only thee ones which have been reported.

6. The EPA reports that Americans ingest and are exposed to over 167 times more dioxin everyday than the acceptable daily level.

7. According to the U.S. General Accounting Office, only 1% of all imported fruits and vegetables are tested by the Food and Drug Administration for illegal pesticide residues.

8. The CDC has gone on record as stating… “Pesticides are toxic to life forms by their very design”

In this section I wish to discuss the "top three chemical additives" to food and their health concerns listed below: Excitotoxins, Sodium Nitrates and Hydrogenated oils. Not listed are harmful chemicals in household cleaning products, in sanitizers and beauty products. Not to mention flavoring agents to simulate the taste of real food and color additives to pinken the greyed flesh of farm raised fish, tint beverages and brighten fruit. For instance, many Florida oranges are actually dipped in an artificial orange dye in order to make them more visually appealing. It's the same dye that's been banned for use in foods because of cancer risk.

Let's first discuss the excitotoxin, monosodium glutamate or MSG for short, since it is an ingredient in almost every processed food product, especially in imported Chinese food products from seasonings, dressings, noodles and soups. Food manufacturing companies and restuarants add MSG to food as a flavor enhancer and also on a side note for the addictive effects it has on the human body in creating unsatisfied hunger. Even the propaganda website sponsored by the food manufacturers lobby group supporting MSG admits adding it to food is to make people EAT MORE OF THEIR PRODUCTS. Consumes are onto food companies so they now "hide" MSG in safe-sounding ingredients like yeast extract or torula yeast.

Another dangerous excitotoxins is aspartame also under the name Nutrasweet prevalent in diet sodas, lemonades and other flavored drinks, and chewing gum which is so alarming considering the amount of soda, artificially flavored drinks and chewing gum individuals consume ans chew daily. Considering what it does to the brain it is not surprising that many persons have become neurologically damaged. Interestingly, Aspartame is tradtionally used as a chemical solvent to clean machinery.

The next chemcial additive to stay away from is sodium nitrate. It is used as acolor fixative and preservative in meats (hotdogs and deli meats), fish and dried fruit. Feeding children hot dogs increases their risk of brain cancer by 300%. If you love sandwiches, it is wise to find healtheir altenatives to deli meats and hot dogs, since these preservatives are known to cause stomach cancer. Consider antibiotic & sodium nitrate free brands. Read your labels. Also another presevative class are Sulfites (sulfur dioxide and sodium bisulfite) abundant in wine, beer and dried fruit. I suggest organic.

Hydrogenated oils are another nasty abound in the cookie aisle section of your supermarket. Food manufacturers started putting them in products because they allow for a longer shelf life, reduced cost, and improved flavor and texture. Crackers, for example, can stay on the shelf and remain crispy for years, in part, because of the hydrogenated fats in them. Some guacamole dips don't even contain avocado. Instead, they're made with hydrogenated soybean oil and artificial colors. You might notice brands that advertise
"NO TRANSFATS." Good thing, because hydrogenated and partially hydrogenated vegetable oils oils (soybean oil, corn oil, canola oil, cottonseed oil) mono or diglycer-ides and glycerin are all sneaky forms of fat and are to be avoided.

The Top Three Most Dangerous Ingredients

1) Sodium Nitrite(nitrate) - causes cancer, found in processed meats like hot dogs, bacon, sausage. Used to make meats appear red (a color fixer chemical). "Sodium nitrite, when consumed by the human body, forms some of the most highly carcinogenic chemical compounds ever recorded in the world of foods and nutrition. 2) Hydrogenated oils - causes heart disease, nutritional deficiencies, general deterioration of cellular health, and much more. Found in cookies, crackers, margarine and many "manufactured" foods. Used to make oils stay in the food, extending shelf life. Sometimes also called "plastic fat" because the fats tends to deposit in the arteries, interfering with the circulation of blood and increasesthe body's exposure to free radicals.

3) Excitotoxins - aspartame (nutrasweet), monosodium glutamate (MSG) and others (see below) are neurotoxic chemical additives that directly harm nerve cells, over-exciting them to the point of cell death
(Dr. Russell Blaylock). Excitotoxins are found in diet soda, canned soup, salad dressing, breakfast sausage and even in many manufactured vegetarian foods. They're used to add flavor to over-processed, boring foods that have had the life cooked out of them.

Food companies hide excitotoxins and taste additives to their foods by changing the words to confuse consumers. Food companies also use the ingredients stacking trick to intentionally leave you with the wrong impression about what's really in their food products. It's a clever, dishonest technique used by food companies to lie with food labels. For example, one company makes a nutrition bar that's absolutely loaded with sugar, but they way they've arranged the ingredients prevents sugar from appearing as the #1 ingredient. Instead, the first ingredient is rice. But looking down the label, you'll find all the following forms of sugar, all in the same nutrition bar. Sugar is an immune buster, so be vigil.
